Reasons

“not you, it’s me”

love absentee

his Ph.D.

and family tree

something for free

A Christmas tree

he sang off key

that  . . . . . Anne Marie

a gambling spree

too fancy free

no referee

Well, pardon me!

But in reality

it’s fear that broke us up

For though we’re so grown up

To really open up

Needs courage – heaven sent

For an engagement truly meant

A neck that’s bent

Bent to the other’s heart

A plunge, a trust, a leap

Into unknown so deep

That some prefer to keep

Their love well locked away

Safe, out of danger, no real need to say

the words

To break the seal

Of Fear

And in that way

We touch antenae

And creep soft away.

  1. One of the sad sidelines of unhappiness is brilliance in describing it on paper! You bare your soul, and we, the readers profit from this!
